6 Month Update

What has the Rotaract Club of Botany Manukau been up to?

For those of you lucky enough to attend the KidsCan 10km Fun run at Sir Barry Curtis park in August - congratulations! We raised $1147.60 for the Telethon and KidsCan Charitable Trust - our name never appeared on the TV3 Telethon, but its at the website, www.bignightin.co.nz , but we all had a great time raising over a thousand dollars for a very good cause!

Charity art auction: We had professional and hobby artists donate their art and had a Silent Art Auction last weekend (Sat 26th September) at Point View School. It was great fun sipping wine in a school gym! Offical stats are TBA but all the money we raised is going towards Papatoetoe Councilling Center.

Rotaract Club of Botany Manukau Chartering Ball

The Chartering Ball was a MAJOR success, all who attended felt the specialness of it all, and the new officially entered Rotaract members were met with a standing ovation from the Rotarians.

It was an interesting mix, young people and not-so-young people, joined by a bar, surrounded by Las Vegas themed cards, pictures, glistening dollar signs and poker chips lining the tables.

The band, Acoustic Affair, who played jazz, blues, rock and swing music were a perfect match for the atmosphere. The dance floor soon came alive as young and old stepped up and swapped partners for ye old good times.

The incoming clubs president, Tracey Green, made a speech to represent just what hard work she has put in over the last 9 months to get this club started, and how glad she is to finally be recognized as an official Rotary associated chartered member. Well done Tracey!

An amazing night for those lucky enough to step into Las Vegas for the evening, amazing people who came to help. Keep an eye out here for the next Rotaract Club of Botany Manukau event!

Chartering Ball 2009

Its been a great 6 months and finally, with enough members and the signed paperwork back from Australia, we can finally celebrate the official Chartering of Rotaract Botany-Manukau! For those of you who don't know, Chartering is a pretty big deal. Its when you finally become an official Rotary entity, and can officially start holding a bank account and forming the means in which to make donations for charity, as well as become recognized for your community service. Its a pretty exciting event.

So we're holding a Las Vegas Ball on 26th March, 2009 to celebrate! Tickets are $25pp and include snacks & nibbles. Please dress to theme (Las Vegas) and have fun! Charity fundraising events will run throughout the evening and beer & wine is cheap!
